Cañada de la Virgen hosted a horse event up behind the Pyramids of La Canada, and invited old friends and new to watch a day of friendly horse racing. The horses and their riders from neighboring communities, many of whom tend to our cows, squared off against one another on a strip of land that was once a runway for Pyramid Looters, but today is a mighty fine quarter mile race track. The weather was perfect, the clouds were puffy, and the carnitas were amazingly delicious and organic too! It was a very special day out on the range, and we always look forward to this annual horse event.
Our friend, local SMA artist and horsewoman Marti McGinnis made a delightful video of the day's races, check it out:
Marti also has some keen horse observations of the day, and we look forward to having her back among our horses and all other animals! Read about it on her art blog
